East Prawle commands the southernmost reaches of the Devon peninsula, where the land abruptly yields to the salt-heavy breath of the English Channel. It lies 2.9 miles east-south-east of Salcombe (from Salcombe: bearing 121°T, OS grid SX 780 364), and is situated south-west of Kellaton village. Stone cottages huddle against the persistent gales, their slate roofs weathered to the colour of a winter sea. A short walk toward the coast leads to The Green, where the grass grows short and resilient against the constant scouring of the wind. East Prawle occupies a portion of the Prawle Point and Start Point SSSI, a rugged stretch where the geology is laid bare in jagged, lichen-crusted teeth. Below the cliffs, the rhythm of the tides shapes the hidden coves, casting a pale, shifting light that reflects off the mica in the rocks. The surrounding fields remain etched with the faint, geometric shadows of an ancient coaxial field system, silent relics of those who laboured upon this exposed headland long before the modern map was drawn.
