Dean occupies a fold in the North Devon landscape where the earth rises in slow, deliberate swells toward the Bristol Channel. It lies 6.1 miles west-south-west of Lynton (from Lynton: bearing 244°T, OS grid SS 629 452), and is situated west of Parracombe village.
