Waiuta is a locality in the West Coast Region of New Zealand. It sits at an elevation of around 395 m above sea level. It lies approximately 54 km east-northeast of Greymouth, the regional capital. Waiuta is located at 42.3000°S, 171.8167°E. It observes New Zealand Time (NZST/NZDT).

Waiuta rests in a deep valley, a place where the Snowy River, a swift and clear artery, rushes past the foundations of forgotten lives. It lies 150.0 km north-north-west of Rolleston (from Rolleston: bearing 342°T), and is situated 20.8 km south-south-west of Reefton. The landscape here is a study in emerald and grey; steep, bush-clad hillsides, thick with native forest, press in on all sides, their slopes often shrouded in a fine mist that clings to the dense canopy. Below, the river has carved a narrow course, its banks a jumble of smooth, grey stones and resilient ferns. The air itself carries a damp, earthy scent, a constant reminder of the surrounding ngahere, and the light filters down through the towering trees in muted shafts, painting the forest floor with a subdued, ever-changing pattern.
