Pahautane is a locality in the West Coast Region of New Zealand. It sits at an elevation of around 37 m above sea level. It lies approximately 48 km north-northeast of Greymouth, the regional capital. Pahautane is located at 42.0500°S, 171.3667°E. It observes New Zealand Time (NZST/NZDT).

Pahautane lies where the land begins to soften its rugged edges, a place where the air carries the faint, briny tang of the sea, though Hatters Bay itself remains a two-kilometre whisper away. It lies 175.1 km west-south-west of Stoke (from Stoke: bearing 242°T), and is situated 38.4 km south-south-west of Westport.
