Lake Kaniere is a locality in the West Coast Region of New Zealand. It sits at an elevation of around 166 m above sea level. It lies approximately 38 km south of Greymouth, the regional capital. Lake Kaniere is located at 42.8000°S, 171.1333°E. It observes New Zealand Time (NZST/NZDT).

Lake Kaniere lies cradled by the rolling contours of the West Coast, a freshwater jewel set within a landscape of deep, resonant greens. It lies 131.3 km north-north-west of Ashburton (from Ashburton: bearing 338°T), and is situated 16.5 km south-east of Hokitika.
