Herepo is a locality in the West Coast Region of New Zealand. It sits at an elevation of around 45 m above sea level. It lies approximately 90 km south-west of Greymouth, the regional capital. Herepo is located at 43.1167°S, 170.5500°E. It observes New Zealand Time (NZST/NZDT).

Herepo rests in a broad, fertile hollow, a place where the land softens its coastal intentions and turns inland, though the salty tang of Benford Bay, a scant ten kilometres distant, still occasionally drifts on the breeze. It lies 128.9 km north-west of Ashburton (from Ashburton: bearing 312°T), and is situated 55.9 km south-west of Hokitika. Rolling hills, cloaked in a patchwork of emerald pasture and the deeper, shadowed green of native bush, cradle the settlement. The Wanganui River, a sinuous silver thread, meanders through the valley floor, its waters carrying the cool breath of the distant Bonar Range, a jagged spine against the western sky. The air here is often heavy with the scent of damp earth and the sweet perfume of blooming gorse, especially after a spring shower, and at dusk, the light takes on a bruised, velvety quality, painting the western horizon in shades of rose and amethyst.
