Granity is a locality in the West Coast Region of New Zealand. It is a small community with a population of 168. It sits at an elevation of around 7 m above sea level. It lies approximately 107 km north-northeast of Greymouth, the regional capital. Granity is located at 41.6333°S, 171.8500°E. It observes New Zealand Time (NZST/NZDT).

Granity rests in a hollow of the West Coast, where the land rises in undulating hills cloaked in dense, native bush. It lies 120.5 km west-south-west of Stoke (from Stoke: bearing 253°T), and is situated 24.4 km east-north-east of Westport. The air here carries the damp, earthy scent of the ngahere, a perpetual perfume of moss and decaying leaves, punctuated by the sharp, clean aroma of beech trees. The Ngakawau River, a muscular ribbon of grey-brown water, carves its way through the terrain, its banks often steep and overgrown, reflecting the brooding, overcast sky that frequently drapes the region. Beyond the immediate embrace of the bush, the Rome Ridge looms, a rugged, forested spine that shelters Granity from the harsher winds, its slopes disappearing into a soft haze on chillier days.
