Aickens rests in a valley carved by ancient forces, where the land rises in undulating folds towards the imposing Aicken Range, a formidable backdrop some six kilometres distant. It lies 108.5 km north-west of Rolleston (from Rolleston: bearing 325°T), and is situated 19.0 km north-north-east of Arthur’s Pass.
