TOPO MAPS — NEW. Click the green 🔍 Search Maps button below the map to open a second map with a Base map row offering three choices. OSM is the standard OpenStreetMap street map. Topo shows the official LINZ topographic maps — the Topo250 and Topo50 sheets used for tramping, hunting, hut access and back-country navigation, switching scale automatically as you zoom in. Aerial shows LINZ aerial imagery, down to 5cm resolution in urban areas. The search box above the map finds any New Zealand town, suburb or landmark by name, so you are not limited to Waerenga.

Click 📍 My position in that same panel to take a single GPS reading from your device. It marks where you are, shows your accuracy, and reports your position as an NZTM2000 grid reference as well as plain latitude and longitude. The NZTM grid reference is the format New Zealand search and rescue services work from, and there is a Copy position button so you can paste it straight into a text message. It takes one reading and stops, rather than tracking continuously, to conserve your battery. Note that map tiles need mobile coverage, but a GPS reading does not — your coordinates stay correct even in places where the map itself cannot load.

The blue 📍 My Location & Navigate button starts live turn-by-turn driving directions from wherever you are to any destination you enter, with spoken guidance, lane hints and automatic re-routing if you leave the route.

Map search is available for a limited number of queries per session to manage costs. Be specific — search precisely for best results.

About Waerenga, Waikato

Waerenga is a locality in the Waikato Region of New Zealand. It sits at an elevation of around 26 m above sea level. It lies approximately 46 km north of Hamilton, the regional capital. Waerenga is located at 37.3667°S, 175.2333°E. It observes New Zealand Time (NZST/NZDT).

Waerenga rests amidst the rolling, verdant countryside of the Waikato region, a landscape sculpted by ancient volcanic activity and softened by time. It lies 31.2 km south-east of Pukekohe East (from Pukekohe East: bearing 127°T), and is situated 8.2 km east-north-east of Te Kauwhata. The land here is a patchwork of fertile pastures, their rich, dark soil often damp from the generous rainfall, interspersed with darker swathes of native bush and the denser, more uniform rows of Maramarua Forest. The air carries the clean scent of damp earth and growing things, a subtle perfume that changes with the seasons. In the distance, the Hapuakohe Range forms a gentle, blue-grey silhouette against the horizon, its slopes a tapestry of green and shadow.

The local economy of Waerenga is deeply rooted in the land, its lifeblood drawn from the surrounding dairy farms that stretch across the plains and up the lower hills. This agricultural heartland is evident in the steady rhythm of the day, from the early morning milking to the slow passage of tractors carrying bales of hay. The history of the area is interwoven with the development of these farming practices, a story of resilience and adaptation. While not directly on its shores, the distant murmur of Waikare Lake can be felt, a nearby presence that hints at the broader water systems of the region, and the Hapuakohe Walkway offers a chance to traverse the nearby terrain, connecting travellers to the natural beauty that defines Waerenga.

About This Waerenga Map Page

This page provides an embedded street and satellite map of Waerenga, Waikato, New Zealand at coordinates -37.36667, 175.23333. Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch views, the plus and minus buttons to zoom, and Fullscreen to fill the screen.

Search Maps opens a second, independent map with four things the embedded map cannot do. It searches OpenStreetMap for any New Zealand town, suburb or landmark by name. It offers LINZ topographic maps as a base layer — the official Topo250 and Topo50 sheets, switching scale automatically as you zoom, and the standard reference for tramping, hunting and back-country travel. It offers LINZ aerial imagery down to 5cm resolution in urban areas. Live weather conditions with current observations and a 7-day forecast are powered by Open-Meteo. Real-time New Zealand and world news feeds keep the page current, while an editorial description provides background on Waerenga.

Waerenga sits within the Waikato Region. Location data is drawn from the GeoNames geographical database and verified by coordinates, ensuring the correct Waerenga is identified even where the name is shared across multiple New Zealand localities.
