TOPO MAPS — NEW. Click the green 🔍 Search Maps button below the map to open a second map with a Base map row offering three choices. OSM is the standard OpenStreetMap street map. Topo shows the official LINZ topographic maps — the Topo250 and Topo50 sheets used for tramping, hunting, hut access and back-country navigation, switching scale automatically as you zoom in. Aerial shows LINZ aerial imagery, down to 5cm resolution in urban areas. The search box above the map finds any New Zealand town, suburb or landmark by name, so you are not limited to Te Rerenga.

Click 📍 My position in that same panel to take a single GPS reading from your device. It marks where you are, shows your accuracy, and reports your position as an NZTM2000 grid reference as well as plain latitude and longitude. The NZTM grid reference is the format New Zealand search and rescue services work from, and there is a Copy position button so you can paste it straight into a text message. It takes one reading and stops, rather than tracking continuously, to conserve your battery. Note that map tiles need mobile coverage, but a GPS reading does not — your coordinates stay correct even in places where the map itself cannot load.

The blue 📍 My Location & Navigate button starts live turn-by-turn driving directions from wherever you are to any destination you enter, with spoken guidance, lane hints and automatic re-routing if you leave the route.

Map search is available for a limited number of queries per session to manage costs. Be specific — search precisely for best results.

Te Rerenga is a locality in the Waikato Region of New Zealand. It sits at an elevation of around 31 m above sea level. It lies approximately 118 km north-northeast of Hamilton, the regional capital. Te Rerenga is located at 36.7500°S, 175.6000°E. It observes New Zealand Time (NZST/NZDT).

Te Rerenga lies cradled by rolling hills, their slopes a patchwork of emerald farmland that spills towards the distant shimmer of the sea. It lies 68.2 km east-north-east of Papakura (from Papakura: bearing 59°T), and is situated 12.9 km north-west of Whitianga. The air here carries a faint, salty tang, a whisper from Whangapoua Harbour, three kilometres to the east, and the land itself feels softened by the proximity of the coast. To the west, the Waitekuri River, a silver thread, meanders through verdant valleys, its waters reflecting the vast, often cloud-brushed sky. The Coromandel Range, a brooding presence on the horizon, watches over this tranquil corner of the Waikato, its ancient slopes cloaked in native bush that hums with the unseen life of the ngahere.

This is a place where the past is etched into the landscape, a quiet testament to generations who have worked this rich soil. Dairy farming forms the backbone of Te Rerenga's economy, its contented herds a familiar sight against the green pastures. Yet, the echoes of earlier industries linger; old forestry tracks, now softened by time and undergrowth, hint at a past where timber was king. Local artisans and small businesses contribute to the distinct character of Te Rerenga, their endeavours adding a subtle vibrancy to the unhurried pace of life. The annual rhythm here is dictated by the seasons and the tides, a gentle cadence that draws those seeking a deeper connection to the land and the sea.

About This Te Rerenga Map Page

This page provides an embedded street and satellite map of Te Rerenga, Waikato, New Zealand at coordinates -36.75, 175.6. Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch views, the plus and minus buttons to zoom, and Fullscreen to fill the screen.

Search Maps opens a second, independent map with four things the embedded map cannot do. It searches OpenStreetMap for any New Zealand town, suburb or landmark by name. It offers LINZ topographic maps as a base layer — the official Topo250 and Topo50 sheets, switching scale automatically as you zoom, and the standard reference for tramping, hunting and back-country travel. It offers LINZ aerial imagery down to 5cm resolution in urban areas. And it can take a single GPS fix from your device and report your position as both an NZTM2000 grid reference and plain latitude and longitude — the grid reference being what New Zealand search and rescue services work from. Map tiles require mobile coverage, but a GPS position does not, so the coordinates remain correct even where the map itself cannot load.

My Location & Navigate starts the vector-tile navigator: live turn-by-turn driving directions from your current position to any destination, with spoken guidance, lane hints and automatic re-routing.

Live weather conditions with current observations and a 7-day forecast are powered by Open-Meteo. Real-time New Zealand and world news feeds keep the page current, while an editorial description provides background on Te Rerenga.

Te Rerenga sits within the Waikato Region. Location data is drawn from the GeoNames geographical database and verified by coordinates, ensuring the correct Te Rerenga is identified even where the name is shared across multiple New Zealand localities.
