TOPO MAPS — NEW. Click the green 🔍 Search Maps button below the map to open a second map with a Base map row offering three choices. OSM is the standard OpenStreetMap street map. Aerial shows LINZ aerial imagery, down to 5cm resolution in urban areas. The search box above the map finds any New Zealand town, suburb or landmark by name, so you are not limited to Stanley Brook.

Click 📍 My position in that same panel to take a single GPS reading from your device. It marks where you are, shows your accuracy, and reports your position as an NZTM2000 grid reference as well as plain latitude and longitude. The NZTM grid reference is the format New Zealand search and rescue services work from, and there is a Copy position button so you can paste it straight into a text message. It takes one reading and stops, rather than tracking continuously, to conserve your battery. Note that map tiles need mobile coverage, but a GPS reading does not — your coordinates stay correct even in places where the map itself cannot load.

The blue 📍 My Location & Navigate button starts live turn-by-turn driving directions from wherever you are to any destination you enter, with spoken guidance, lane hints and automatic re-routing if you leave the route.

Map search is available for a limited number of queries per session to manage costs. Be specific — search precisely for best results.

About Stanley Brook, Tasman

Stanley Brook is a locality in the Tasman Region of New Zealand. It sits at an elevation of around 169 m above sea level. It lies approximately 31 km west of Richmond, the regional capital. Stanley Brook is located at 41.3333°S, 172.8167°E. It observes New Zealand Time (NZST/NZDT).

Stanley Brook lies cradled within a fold of the Tasman Region, where the land rises in a series of undulating hills, their flanks cloaked in a patchwork of emerald pastures and the deeper, more somber green of native bush. It lies 34.8 km west of Stoke (from Stoke: bearing 267°T), and is situated 27.8 km south-west of Motueka. The air here carries the cool, clean scent of damp earth and growing things, particularly after a passing shower, and the quality of light can be remarkably soft, especially in the late afternoon when it casts long, gentle shadows across the valleys. The land is sculpted by the slow, persistent work of water, with small tributaries feeding into the larger Wangapeka River, a ribbon of silver that threads its way through the broader landscape, its banks sometimes fringed with hardy ferns and the occasional cluster of beech trees.

The history of Stanley Brook is interwoven with the land’s bounty, a story of resilience and adaptation. For generations, this locality has been shaped by the rhythms of agriculture, primarily sheep and beef farming, where the rolling hills provide ample grazing. The proximity to the Wangapeka River has also hinted at the potential for forestry, with stands of trees often appearing on the steeper slopes, their timber a valuable resource. While not a major hub, Stanley Brook maintains a quiet character, a place where the local economy is tied directly to the soil and the seasons, and where the distinctive silence of the countryside is punctuated only by the bleating of sheep or the distant rumble of a farm vehicle.

About This Stanley Brook Map Page

This page provides an embedded street and satellite map of Stanley Brook, Tasman, New Zealand at coordinates -41.33333, 172.81667. Use the Map and Satellite buttons to switch views, the plus and minus buttons to zoom, and Fullscreen to fill the screen.

Search Maps opens a second, independent map with four things the embedded map cannot do. It searches OpenStreetMap for any New Zealand town, suburb or landmark by name. It offers LINZ topographic maps as a base layer — the official Topo250 and Topo50 sheets, switching scale automatically as you zoom, and the standard reference for tramping, hunting and back-country travel. It offers LINZ aerial imagery down to 5cm resolution in urban areas. And it can take a single GPS fix from your device and report your position as both an NZTM2000 grid reference and plain latitude and longitude — the grid reference being what New Zealand search and rescue services work from. Map tiles require mobile coverage, but a GPS position does not, so the coordinates remain correct even where the map itself cannot load.

Live weather conditions with current observations and a 7-day forecast are powered by Open-Meteo. Real-time New Zealand and world news feeds keep the page current, while an editorial description provides background on Stanley Brook.

Stanley Brook sits within the Tasman Region. Location data is drawn from the GeoNames geographical database and verified by coordinates, ensuring the correct Stanley Brook is identified even where the name is shared across multiple New Zealand localities.
