Rowan is a locality in the Taranaki Region of New Zealand. It sits at an elevation of around 382 m above sea level. It lies approximately 37 km south of New Plymouth, the regional capital. Rowan is located at 39.3974°S, 174.1111°E. It observes New Zealand Time (NZST/NZDT).

Rowan rests in a broad valley, its landscape defined by the gentle swell of pastureland that rolls towards the distant, hazy forms of Curtis Ridge. It lies 36.9 km south of New Plymouth (from New Plymouth: bearing 176°T), and is situated 26.2 km north-west of Hawera.
