Waianiwa is a locality in the Southland Region of New Zealand. It sits at an elevation of around 14 m above sea level. It lies approximately 13 km north-northwest of Invercargill, the regional capital. Waianiwa is located at 46.3000°S, 168.2667°E. It observes New Zealand Time (NZST/NZDT).

Waianiwa rests in a landscape shaped by the patient sculpting of the Oreti River, its waters a constant, unhurried presence nearby. It lies 12.8 km north-north-west of Invercargill (from Invercargill: bearing 330°T), and is situated 12.2 km north-west of Rosedale. The land here unfurls in a patchwork of fertile plains, gently rising into low, rounded hills that catch the Southland sun.
