Te Waewae is a locality in the Southland Region of New Zealand. It sits at an elevation of around 29 m above sea level. It lies approximately 57 km west-northwest of Invercargill, the regional capital. Te Waewae is located at 46.2000°S, 167.6667°E. It observes New Zealand Time (NZST/NZDT).

Te Waewae lies beneath the western flank of the Longwood Range, a place where the land begins to soften and spread before meeting the distant murmur of the sea. It lies 57.0 km west-north-west of Invercargill (from Invercargill: bearing 293°T), and is situated 7.5 km south of Tuatapere. The landscape here is a study in muted greens and ochres, rolling hills dotted with the sturdy forms of cattle and sheep, interspersed with pockets of native bush and the darker, more uniform stands of plantation forestry.
