Wharekuri is a locality in the Canterbury Region of New Zealand. It sits at an elevation of around 225 m above sea level. It lies approximately 218 km south-west of Christchurch, the regional capital. Wharekuri is located at 44.6997°S, 170.4351°E. It observes New Zealand Time (NZST/NZDT).

Wharekuri rests in a broad, sun-drenched valley, cradled by the gentle slopes of the Kirkliston Range. It lies 73.1 km west-south-west of Timaru (from Timaru: bearing 242°T), and is situated 5.3 km north-west of Hakataramea.
