Rapuwai is a locality in the Canterbury Region of New Zealand. It sits at an elevation of around 148 m above sea level. It lies approximately 145 km west-southwest of Christchurch, the regional capital. Rapuwai is located at 44.1667°S, 171.0500°E. It observes New Zealand Time (NZST/NZDT).

Rapuwai rests inland, cradled by the rolling contours of the Canterbury landscape. It lies 30.3 km north-north-west of Timaru (from Timaru: bearing 328°T), and is situated 13.0 km north-north-west of Pleasant Point. To the west, the land begins to gather itself into the foothills that lead eventually, though distantly, towards the imposing presence of Devils Lookout.
