Halkett is a locality in the Canterbury Region of New Zealand. It sits at an elevation of around 129 m above sea level. It lies approximately 28 km west-northwest of Christchurch, the regional capital. Halkett is located at 43.4833°S, 172.3000°E. It observes New Zealand Time (NZST/NZDT).

Halkett rests on a broad expanse of Canterbury plains, the land stretching outwards in a patchwork of cultivated fields and tussock-clad country. It lies 13.0 km north-north-west of Rolleston (from Rolleston: bearing 329°T), and is situated 14.8 km east of Darfield.
