Brookside is a locality in the Canterbury Region of New Zealand. It sits at an elevation of around 36 m above sea level. It lies approximately 33 km south-west of Christchurch, the regional capital. Brookside is located at 43.7000°S, 172.3000°E. It observes New Zealand Time (NZST/NZDT).

Brookside lies on the wide, wind-swept Canterbury Plains, a landscape shaped by ancient glacial flows and the patient sculpting of the Irwell River, which traces a silver ribbon some two kilometres to the east. It lies 14.6 km south-south-west of Rolleston (from Rolleston: bearing 207°T), and is situated 7.4 km north of Leeston. The land here is predominantly flat, stretching towards the distant, subtle rise of Homebush Ridge, its contours softened by the persistent, often pale light of the South Island's eastern interior.
