Owhata is a locality in the Bay of Plenty Region of New Zealand. It sits at an elevation of around 306 m above sea level. It lies approximately 63 km west-southwest of Whakatane, the regional capital. Owhata is located at 38.1326°S, 176.2982°E. It observes New Zealand Time (NZST/NZDT).

Owhata rests on the western shores of Lake Rotorua, its landscape a gentle embrace of rolling hills meeting the vast, shimmering water.
