Guthrie is a locality in the Bay of Plenty Region of New Zealand. It sits at an elevation of around 371 m above sea level. It lies approximately 82 km west-southwest of Whakatane, the regional capital. Guthrie is located at 38.3000°S, 176.1500°E. It observes New Zealand Time (NZST/NZDT).

Guthrie rests inland, a quiet collection of dwellings and farms spread across the rolling country. It lies 19.8 km south-south-west of Rotorua (from Rotorua: bearing 205°T), and is situated 25.8 km east-south-east of Tokoroa. The land here is a tapestry of cultivated paddocks and the darker, untamed green of native bush, the latter particularly dominant as one approaches the foothills of the Paeroa Range, its slopes rising with a soft, rounded permanence. Streams, fed by the higher ground, trace their way through the landscape, their waters reflecting the wide, often bright, Bay of Plenty sky.
