Despite my best efforts, I seem to have won an award:

Within the Open Directory editor community, these are unofficially called Mozzies.

I was very surprised, honored, and somewhat embarrassed.

I had no idea that I was even nominated, until I got two encouraging emails from two other editors: halevi, sdvan. I had assumed that no one noticed me, except for a few editors with whom I interact on occasion.

Worse, and ironically, my research has revealed that the editor who I beat, by only one vote, was the same editor who nominated me, and the only other editor nominated as Best Computers editor. Ouch! Spaseebo to Russian editor eugrus.

I seldom follow these sorts of more social Open Directory activities. I'm sorry folks.

In 2005 August, I attended day one of SqueakFest. Alan Kay is one of the great minds of the 20th century. It is exciting and inspiring to hear someone like that speak. He emanates interesting ideas much as the food at a good Indian restaurant emits the lovely aromatic aromas of curries, thus enlivening the appetites of the hungry. I was juiced for months.
